Full disclosure: I have so much respect and love for Laura, because I have attended three writing retreats with her, the first one about 7 years ago. I’m an academic-style writer who works in an applied field, and a wanna-be memoirist. What I loved most about this podcast was her description of her relationship with her mother and how its evolution allowed her to write her most recent book. That, and how telling herself that what allowed her to do so, what took the pressure off, was emphasizing that she didn’t have to publish the story but she felt and knew she wanted to write it. Thanks for the inspiration for writers, and a great interview!
Salaams! It is a privilege to be one of Laura’s student.
One thing I would add to this interview which did not come out is the amazing sensitivity that Laura has for others.
Her optimism and her lack of arrogance in her interactions with others reflects one who has a clean heart.
May she be blessed in her path as she is practicing the pure nature called “ Fitra” that The Divine places in every human being which is not always nurtured and practiced as she does. Her love for nature reflects it truly !
fabulous show, love Laura and her story, her accessible style of telling it. Inspiring. I will listen to many of your archived posts after this one.
